We tend to make it a formula, but when Jesus first introduced The Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:5-15), it was a departure from the ritualistic prayers of the first century Jewish culture. Yes, it was eloquent, but it was also simple, and it was genuine, and there is no question--it came from the heart.
